My one year experience of Blogging

Today I am going to share my one year experience of blogging, this has been a good experience for me. From the day I launched this blog I have never felt bored about blogging, it always gives me new hope and ambition with which I am lasting as a blogger for almost one year. In its inception I was not pretty sure about its growing but gradually I started loving it.
clearly remembered the day I published my first post on windows named it as How to make your PC perform faster and it got traffics just after one or two days of publication, when I used to show viewers reading my post I felt myself the happiest one. As a blogger you might know that at the very beginning we all try and eagerly wait to index our post on Google search, if Google shows our post then we feel some kind of relaxation in us. The same was happened to me, before making a technology startup blog I used to write topics on current news on my blog giving it a name Wisdomgraffiti, but I did not succeed with it, Google indexed my post after more than five pages of Google search, in that time I was really disappointed so I changed my blogging topic to how to tutorials and technology review, though it was not stand like a magical lamp for me but I can say it was better than the before. Now I was able to index my post easily on Google. Google indexed my post on the first page of Google search.

It is true that people are not satisfied easily, they always want more, if one gets a coin of bronze he tries to make it silver, and then tries to make it gold, similarly after successfully indexing my post on Google and receiving good numbers of traffic for my blog, I somehow felt of making money from it so now I want Google AdSense to approve me and other pay per click advertisements, it was very easy for me to get approved by chitika and infolinks but it was tough to getting AdSense approval. I always cleared the 1st step of AdSense approval but failed to pass the second step, it brought down my hope of making money out of blogging. But I did not leave posting new articles in my blog, after 8 months of my blogging, one day I reapplied for AdSense program, but this time I was not disappointed, yes I was approved by Google AdSense. Now I was able to show AdSense ads on my blog as millions of bloggers do. It brought a professional look to my blog, I started getting more traffics. It again boosts me up for blogging, now I am running my blog very nicely, I write 3 or 4 posts per week and get more than 20000 of visitors per month with a good alexa ranking. I have recently got five new guest blogger, they write for my blog. That’s all about my blogging experience. Thanks

iPhone trade in program launched Great Apple

iPhone trade-in program launched to spur upgrades

Apple Inc. has started an iPhone trade-in program in its stores, letting owners sell older handsets back to the company in exchange for credit toward a new model.

Apple’s U.S. retail outlets are now accepting devices, said Amy Bessette, a spokeswoman for Apple. The initiative is starting just before the next iPhone’s debut on Sept. 10.

While Gazelle Inc. and wireless carriers such as Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. already buy used handsets, this is the first program run by the iPhone maker at its stores. By buying old phones, they’re aiming to spur new device sales by helping cover the cost of buying the latest smartphone. Apple is teaming up with Brightstar Corp., a mobile-phone distributor, to run the operation, people with knowledge of the plans said in June.

“IPhones hold great value so Apple Retail Stores are launching a new program to assist customers who wish to bring in their previous-generation iPhone for reuse or recycling,” Bessette said. “In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned phone that they can use toward the purchase of a new iPhone.”

The money paid back depends on the condition of the phone. An iPhone 5 with 64 gigabytes of memory can fetch $350 through Gazelle’s website, while an iPhone 3GS may receive only $10. The most that any iPhone will sell for at an Apple Store is $280. Previously Apple accepted trade-ins online via mail.

Replacement Phones
Without a subsidy from a carrier, an iPhone 5 costs $649 to $849 depending on the amount of memory, compared with $199 to $399 with a wireless contract.

iPhones collected through these programs are often refurbished and used as replacements for ones that break, or resold in emerging markets.

Apple sold 31.2 million units of the iPhone in the latest quarter, compared with 26 million a year earlier. Apple shares have declined 31 percent from a record in September, weighed down by investor concerns that the company’s era of rapid growth, fueled by the 2007 debut of the iPhone, may be over.

Another Reason to Go Premium with Evernote Document Search

With the latest product update in March, Evernote Premium and Evernote Business users can search within the Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint uploaded to Evernote using the new Document search feature. Before this change, you will need to convert the files to PDF in order to make use of the OCR feature in Evernote. With this change, there is no  need for this step as Evernote can now search within the Office documents. Check out the video from Evernote below.

For example, I can now search all my Microsoft Word documents in Evernote by a specific search phrase and get all the notes with Word attachments containing that phrase (see screenshot).

Searching the content of a word document in Evernote
Search only Word document and containing the word "Christmas"

Again, this feature is only for premium users only, but it is a great feature to go premium for.

There were Errors Loading the Picasa Database What Next

This morning, when I started up my laptop, I saw a Windows low disk space warning message but dismissed it. Later in the morning, when I started up my Picasa, I go the following error message.
There were errors loading the Picasa database. Would you like to see the error log?
When I opened up the error log, this was what I saw.
thumbs_index.db,CBlockFile=837,err=2,errno=2,oserr=0
After some researching online, I found that my Picasa database was most likely corrupted (due to the low disk space) and the recommended solution was to rebuild the Picasa database. I thought this would be straightforward enough, but when I tried to uninstall Picasa, I again got an error message:
The installer is unable to close Picasa. Please check that it is closed and other users dont have it open
After spending 1+ hours going through various trial-and-error and trying different suggestions, I finally stumbled on the solution, which I will share here in case you encounter the same issue. Simply browse to the folder username > AppData > Local > Google > Picasa2 and rename the db3 folder (I renamed mine db3-old as shown below). Once you have done that, you should have not problem uninstalling and re-installing Picasa again.

How to Insert a Pound Symbol on Your Laptop

Sometimes, you may want to type a currency symbol, like a pound (£) on a notepad or email application but find that the application does not provide a feature for inserting special symbols. You could use the insert symbol feature in say Microsoft Word and copy and paste the symbol over to your application. But there is a much faster way via your laptop keyboard.

First, you need to activate the numeric key pad by pressing the Num Lock (NumLk) key. On my Acer laptop, this key is located on the F11 key. To activate it, you need to hold down the Function (Fn) key and press the F11 key. You should see a confirmation of this activation. For example, I will see a lock symbol flash momentarily across my screen.

Keyboard showing position on Function and Num Lock key as well as the numeric keypad
How to activate the numeric keypad on my Acer laptop
To insert a Pound symbol i.e. £, simply hold down the Alt key and while it is still held down, type out the number 0163 on the numeric keypad one at a time. You should see the pound sign "typed out". And dont forget to deactivate the numeric keypad (same way as you activate) so that you can use the alphabet keys again.

PLAYSTATION 4 PS4 IS OFFICIALLY OUT

The New SONY PS4 is now Officially Out. I know after a much waited time and anticipation, you would be in a hurry to see or know what the New Sony PS4 looks like before going ahead to pull out your wallet.

The new Play station 4 was first announced at E3 in a press conference on the 20th February, 2013. The New PS4 is in a bid to compete with the likes Nintendos Wii U and Microsofts Xbox One.

FEATURES OF THE NEW PS4

The New Ps4 is really out to beat off rivals with its new features that guarantees a wonderful User based experience in terms of design, game controller, User Interface, dual camera.

DESIGN

PS4 is a rhomboid shaped gadget and has a sleek design and visually appealing. It appears pretty slimmer than the Xbox One and it is does not at all carry that fancy look to me.

CAMERA

The PlayStation Eye (camera ) has been redesigned.and now comes with both 1280×800px cameras. The dual camera allows you to carry out several modes of operation, depending on the target application. The two cameras can be used together for depth-sensing of objects in its field of vision where by one of the cameras can be used for generating the video image, with the other used for motion tracking.

USER INTERFACE

The PlayStation 4 now substitute the XrossMediaBar with a completely new user interface. there is also an improvement in user profile for players that now shows details such as recent activity, their full name and other details in addition to their unlocked Trophies. The PS4 home screen now features personalized content from friends. Other Services from third-party vendors, such as Netflix and Amazon Instant Video, will also be accessible within the new interface. It is also possible to carry out multiple task during game play, such as opening a web browser while playing a game as well.

PS4 Online services

Sony openly said the PS4 does not necessary require an Internet connection so as to function completely, but some of it services and features will sure be richer when the User is online. The PlayStation Network (PSN) will allow players to access a variety of cloud-based services from the PlayStation Store including Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited subscription services. Customers can browse titles and stream games via Gaikai to try them out almost instantaneously. Online multiplayer access requires a subscription to PlayStation Plus. Sony intends to expand and evolve the services it offers over the PlayStation 4s lifespan.

Controllers

The DualShock 4 is said to be the PS4s main controller. Similar to the DualShock 3, it will connect to the console via Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. The DualShock 3, however, will not be compatible with PS4. The DualShock 4 will be equipped with several new features, including a built-in two-point capacitative touch pad on the front of the controller, which can be clicked. The controller will support motion detection via a three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer and improved vibration. It will include a non-removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery tentatively capable of storing 1000 mAh. The tentative design weighs 210 g (7.4 oz), has dimensions of 162 × 52 × 98 mm (6.4 × 2.0 × 3.9 in), and has a rubber or etched plastic backing to enhance grip.

Cost and Availability Of PS4 in NIGERIA

The PS4 is going to cost $400 (which is about N60,000), and will be available as soon as possible. That puts it at a hundred dollars cheaper than the Xbox One, although its worth remembering that the Xbox One comes bundled with a Kinect 2.

Its an aggressive price, though, one that Sony needed to hit to make itself an attractive Xbox One alternative. If nothing else, the choice is clear: Do you want a living room portal that happens to play (some extremely good) games? Or a less expensive gaming machine (with some extremely good online content) that doesnt have much of an exclusive identity?

For the gaming community, the edge pretty clearly goes to the PS4 right now. Used games arent tainted by DRM restrictions, the console itself is cheaper, the graphics are sublime. The question is: What about everyone else? Well have to wait until the holiday season for any sort of definitive answer.

You need to click on Trash to delete the email

There is a solution. Go to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars page in your iPad Settings page. Set the Archive Messages to OFF.

How to do an Evernote advanced search using Dates

Evernote provides some nifty search syntax that makes the searching of notes very easy. In this article,  well look at some date-specific search operators.

When I process the notes in my Action Pending notebook in Evernote, I always want to process the most recent notes from the past week. I can do that using the following search syntax:

created:day-7

In plain English, this means: Find me all the notes that were created in Evernote since one week ago. You can substitute other values to vary the time periods in your search:

For example,
replace created with updated - now you search based on the date of modification instead of creation
replace day with month or year - the period  is taken with respect to months and years instead of days
replace day-x with specific date in YYYYMMDD format e.g. 20130325 for 25-March-2013

You will notice that the searches return results up till the present day. If you want to further restrict the end date to a specific date, you can by augmenting the search syntax, albeit in a slightly unwieldy way.  The example below will highlight the difference:

created:month-4 [returns all notes created up from 4 months ago]

created:month-4 -created:month-3 [returns all notes created up from 4 months ago but not from 3 months ago]

The additional syntax in the second example tells Evernote not to search for those notes created 3 months ago. The net effect is that only notes created exactly 4 months ago are returned.

You can now combine these date operators with other non-date operators to come up with pretty powerful search syntax.
